Orient School District Board of Directors

Responsibilities of the Board of Directors

The Orient School District Board of Directors is made up of elected members who serve fixed terms in accordance with Washington State law. Board members are elected by voters within the district and are responsible for representing the community they serve.

The role of the Board of Directors is to represent the vision, values, and educational priorities of the Orient School District community. The Board of Directors fulfills this role by:

• Establishing the district’s vision, mission, and goals
• Adopting and guiding the district’s strategic direction
• Adopting, reviewing, and revising district policies
• Adopting the district budget and providing fiscal oversight
• Hiring, supporting, and evaluating the Superintendent

• Serving as representatives and liaisons between the school and the community

Additional responsibilities of the Board of Directors include overseeing district finances, monitoring progress toward district goals, engaging with the community, and advocating for the district at the local and state levels.

Meeting Schedule

Regular meetings of the Board of Directors are held on the third Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the Arts Room on the second floor.

ADA access is provided on the north side of the building. For student safety reasons the door is secured. Please call 509.684.6873 before hand to make arrangements for someone to meet you at the door.

Resolutions and Reports

Annual Reports and Board Resolutions provide an official record of the Board of Directors’ actions, decisions, and progress toward district goals. These documents promote transparency and accountability to the community.
